Easter
Named an International Tourist Attraction in 2005.
Order, flowers, light and music are its distinctive features. The processions run from daybreak on Good Friday (the first street procession in Spain) to Easter Sunday.
There are four brotherhoods: Real e Ilustre Cofradía de Nuestro Padre Jesus Nazareno (Marrajos); Pontificia, Real e Ilustre Cofradía de Nuestro Padre Jesus en el Doloroso Paso del Prendimiento y Esperanza de la Salvación de las Almas (Californios); Ilustre Cofradía del Santísimo Cristo del Socorro y Real e Ilustre Cofradía de Nuestro Padre Jesus Resucitado.
The procession includes important works of art such as sculptures by Francisco Salzillo, Jose Capuz, and Mariano Benlliure, among others.
The great processions on Holy Wednesday and Good Friday as well as the “Encounter” procession, which is held at daybreak between Maundy Thursday and Good Friday, are the highlights.
